Uniting Lincolnshire Award Finalists 2022

Uniting Lincolnshire Award

The Uniting Lincolnshire Award celebrates organisations and projects that utilise physical activity and sport to build cohesive communities by bringing people together to welcome and embrace ethnic, cultural, physical and other differences across the county.

Our Finalists

  • Jo Knight - YMCA Lincolnshire
Jo Knight runs a Children in Need-funded project commissioned to improve wellbeing and community belonging. After building links with local community groups and one-to-one work with vulnerable young people, it was clear they all needed a space to be together. So began Moorland Mondays at YMCA Lincolnshire’s youth activity centre at The Showroom’; a free-to-access youth club that can welcome up to 50 young people per night. Activities include sports like dodgeball or volleyball, alongside arts, crafts and much more.

  • Lyndsey Clapham
Lyndsey Clapham delivers a comprehensive health and wellbeing programme for all Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust employees including walking and physical challenges where employees group themselves together, with teams challenging each other. This unites the organisation, with employees throughout Lincolnshire.

  • Positive Futures - Ashleigh Eggington & Yoana Banda
Amidst global disparity, Lincolnshire saw a rise in refugees from Afghanistan accommodated in local hotels. As a unique integration project, Positive Futures in Grantham worked alongside Lincolnshire County Council’s Early Years team to provide physical and developmental activities for the young people. The aim was to introduce them to local culture, build relationships with local services and prepare them with a social toolkit.
