Delivering sports in schools

Physical activity is a crucial part of any child’s development. As well as improving their physical health, daily movement has been shown to boost academic performance, memory, motivation, social skills and mental wellbeing. That’s why we work with schools to create a wide range of fun, accessible opportunities for children to be active during the school day – whether that’s through PE lessons, exercise snacking or dedicated events.

Working with our key partners, including national governing bodies, School Games Organisers and One Network, we create and promote opportunities for young people across the county to engage in sports – both in and out of school.

A core part of this work is supporting Lincolnshire’s School Games Organisers (SGOs) to bring schools together for festivals, celebrations and competitions, providing activities that work to engage children who may not currently take part in sport. We also work with schools to upskill existing staff or access external coaching providers, allowing them to offer a broader range of activities.

These activities are informed by our Active Lives and Youth Voices insight, allowing us to create and deliver targeted opportunities that meet the needs of young people across Lincolnshire.
